Mutual Coupling Suppression between Two Closely Placed Patch Antennas Using Higher Order Modes

چکیده

This paper presents a novel method for decoupling two patch antennas. Instead of using the TM10 mode conventional patch, TM20 is utilized as operation antenna. By loading stubs at radiating edge resonance frequency moved down to same band original mode. Then mutual coupling between such antennas suppressed simply by physical placement, even when they are placed extremely close each other. Without any extra elements, isolation improved up 20 dB this method. Furthermore, can also be applied multi-element multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) array and dual-antenna system with different operating bands. The proposed verified three application scenarios, including 2-element MIMO array, 2-antenna adjacent bands, 4-element array. Reasonable agreements simulated measured results observed, showing advantages simple structure, low cost, high isolation, good radiation performance.

Reduction of the spatially mutual coupling between dual-polarized patch antennas using coupled metamaterial slabs

Mutual coupling inside antenna array is usually caused by two routes: signal leakage via conducting currents on the metallic background or surface wave along substrates; radio leakage received from space between antenna elements. The former one can be depressed by changing the distribution of surface currents, as reported in literatures. But when it comes to the latter one, the radiation-leakag...

Mutual Coupling Reduction Techniques in Microstrip Patch Antennas: a Survey

An important challenge in communication industry is to reduce the total size of devices. Similarly array size reduction has attracted increasing interest in recent years. Placing elements of an antenna array close to each other is certainly one way to reduce the total size of an array antenna. However, one of the factor called mutual coupling depends on inter element separation and relative ori...

Mutual Coupling Reduction Between Flexible MIMO Antennas

In this chapter, a novel μ-negative (MNG) metamaterial structure is proposed to reduce mutual coupling between two printed monopole antennas operating at 2.45 GHz. The unit cell consists of two split ring resonator (SRR) structures bridged at the centre, which mimics a cascaded filter; hence, termed as Bridged Split Ring Resonators (BSRRs). This approach enhances the magnitude and bandwidth of ...
